about

Lost Memory has field recording carried out on two different beaches in Scotland; an Oystercatcher flying past managed to count-in the guitar correctly at 72bpm. There are a lot of different influences on this lyric; including J W Waterhouse’s painting Miranda And The Tempest and Meryl Streep in The French Lieutenant’s Woman all mixed in with various cold-weather holidays.

lyrics

I found you waiting in a lost memory
Where the wild coastline is lashed by the sea
Against the grey sky stands your silhouette
Your hair clings to the wind as it howls its regret
A fine fine wind mixes with the spray
As seagulls squeal and wheel in the sky
Behind you the colour has drained from the land
As monochrome marram grass is kicked by the wind
You blink as a sudden gust casts rain in your eyes
As the seascape before you heaves and subsides

Only you are not moving on that turbulent shore
Then you turn and you walk where the land meets the sea
Your coat billows a wake as you head back to me
Pebbles rattle and clatter as the last wave recedes
You found me waiting in a lost memory
Where the wild coastline is lashed by the sea

I found you waiting in a lost memory
Where the wild coastline is lashed by the sea
Where we turn and walk where the land meets the sea
We turn and walk where the land meets the sea
I found you waiting in a lost memory
Where the wild coastline is lashed by the sea
You found me waiting in a lost memory
Where the wild coastline is lashed by the sea
