about

Shut All The Clubs
The corporatization of public space and the slow extinction of small music venues is the target of Shut All The Clubs: The cultural vandalism imposed by city developers that have no regard what so ever for popular culture, the atmosphere and multitude of choice that makes city living attractive is destroyed in the land grab to build luxury flats, while less profitable but more urgently needed small dwellings remain unbuilt. This is a different mix and master to the 45rpm single version, recorded at Seed Studios and at Bryn Elwy

lyrics

Shut All The Clubs:

Business invests and business infests
The developers dream runs wild
Bohemia shrinks the public blinks
The city is restyled
A glass fronted gym and retail opportunities
Make up the empire of the bland
The heart of the city beats its last as computers boot up
The developers rub their hands
The artists move out as rents shoot up
Atmosphere makes its final stand
The heart of the city is replaced with empty offices
The development goes as planned
Business invests business divests
The developers dream runs wild
Bohemia shrinks the public drinks
And the city is defiled
Corporatise, sanitise, big it up with PR lies,
Shut all the clubs tear down the pubs
Sear it all and cauterise
So that we can have more luxury flats
'Cos living in the city - thats where its at
